A person who sings is called a singer or vocalist. Singers perform music known as songs that can either be sung a cappella (without accompaniment) or accompanied by musicians and instruments ranging from a single instrumentalist (a duet with a piano) to a full symphony orchestra or big band. Singing is often done in a group of other musicians, such as in a choir of singers with different voice ranges, or in an ensemble with instrumentalists, such as a rock group or baroque ensemble. Nearly anyone who can speak can sing, since in many respects singing is a form of sustained speech. Singing can be informal and done for pleasure; for example, singing in the shower or karaoke; or it can be very formal, as in the case of singing during a religious ritual such as a Mass or professional singing performances done on stage or in a recording studio. I also know that there are some people who just can't sing. Which part of the brain controls this? Could singing talent be inherited? Many singers are just born with "well tune ears" the same way some people are natural drawers. Yes I think singing can be inherited or natural. Similar to Elvis Presley and His daughter or Inrique Inglesias and his father. All are singers and could have inherited the ability. Or it can also be natural as in Christna Aguilera. Some people are born with awesome voices but the rest of us have to learn how to sing. You don't have to be born with talent to be talented. It all depends on how inspired and motivated you are to learn. Don't be stubborn and wish you had talent, get up and work your way to the great hobby of singing. You are never too young or too old to learn how to sing. Don't be intimidated by all the young talented singers or the ones who started learning since they were five years old. If you put your mind to it, you can sing but it does take a lot of time and dedication. Just be careful when choosing your teacher. Be sure to interview them so you know what a typical lesson would be like and so you know what you're paying for.
